Description

This total series focuses on the greatest characteristics of military gear: "practicality, functionality, and durability," inspired by the details of the U.S. Air Force nylon flight suit "FLYING SUIT / TYPE K-2A" manufactured in the early 1950s. The material for this series is completely original, newly developed from yarn to weave using high-level Made-in-Japan technology, drawing inspiration from the flying suits of that time. A smooth and glossy nylon filament that is resistant to friction and bending is woven into an Oxford pique-like fabric that is both high-density and lightweight. The surface is treated with a cire finish, giving it a unique luster and firmness. Each item incorporates details seen in military equipment of that time, while also incorporating specifications that fit into everyday life. The main zipper is fitted with a wire automatic slider and a full-tanned cowhide leather pull, while the other zippers use semi-automatic sliders with original PORTER-engraved pull tabs. All models except the string strap (17043) feature an original spec tag sewn onto them, modeled after woven labels that detail the specifications for procuring military supplies. Furthermore, they are printed with the original insignia "P.Y. AIR FORCE," based on insignias indicating nationality and unit. The oxygen tab, originally used to secure oxygen mask cords on early MA-1 models, has been transformed into a pocket for storing smartphones and other items. The shoulder straps utilize a unique sewing technique combining standard parts and tape, resulting in an innovative system that allows for smooth, one-action adjustment. â– Patent No. 6698930 / Design No. 1659605 U.S. Air Force soldiers of that era would customize their flight jackets and aircraft bodies with paintwork reflecting their thoughts of family, loved ones, and hometowns. This series draws inspiration from that culture, featuring two peaceful and endearing "PILOT DOG'S" as original pin-up dogs. This artwork was commissioned from London-based graphic artist Russell Maurice. All models come with a hang tag featuring a "PILOT DOG'S" sticker. This is a daypack that can be used in both casual and business settings. It has a two-compartment design with ample storage space. The main compartment is a large-capacity storage area with convenient hanging pockets for organization, while the rear compartment has a padded laptop compartment. The sides feature pockets inspired by the radio pockets of old military bags. Opening the snap reveals a vinyl pocket for maps and pamphlets, and a mesh pocket convenient for storing folding umbrellas or water bottles. The other side has a zippered pocket suitable for storing small items such as key cases and wireless earphones. This is a versatile daypack that can be used by anyone, regardless of gender or occasion. The shop-exclusive color "Air Force Blue" is based on the color of the flight suits from that era that served as the inspiration. We went through many trials and errors to finally reproduce this calm, deep hue. Combined with the glossy nylon filament, it has a unique fabric texture. *Please note that some specifications may differ between the images shown and the actual product you receive.
